The Green Lines Institute and the Organising Committee established as a main criterium that Heritage and Sustainable Development conferences should take place in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. After Heritage 2008, that was held at the Douro Valley and the Archaelogic Park of Foz Coa the choice turned this year to the city of Évora, in Alentejo (Southern Portugal).

Évora is located 130 km from Lisbon (circa 90 minutes by car) and 100 Km (75 minutes by car) from the Spanish border.
Évora can also be reached by train from main cities in Portugal and Spain.

Despite its ancient roots and amazing Historical Centre, Évora is a modern city equipped with modern facilities in cultural and touristic terms.

The Conference will be held in two separate places. The Conference's ceremonies, Plenary Sessions and Workshops will take place in the Municipal Theatre Garcia de Resende, and the Parallel Sessions will take place in the old Monastery of Santa Clara (actually the School of Santa Clara). Both places are nearby at a walking distance.
